Amazon allows any author to sell books on its site, even if an author is not represented by a traditional publishing company. Authors who list their books for sale themselves are considered to be self-publishing. They can do this through Amazon's KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) portal.

Though self-publishing is theoretically available to any author, Amazon has very particular requirements for adding a book. Unless you have a background in graphic design, copywriting, and file formatting, these requirements may be difficult to meet. Even if you do meet them, your book may become available for sale, yet not grab the attention of buyers.

If you want to sell e-books and physical books (paperbacks and/or hardcovers), then yes, you do need services in the package to self-publish a book.

Without a cover file, e-book interior file, physical interior/exterior files, description, and categories, you won't be able to list your book for sale on Amazon.

You simply need to provide us your manuscript and answer some basic questions about your book, like its genre. If your book is primarily text (ex, a novel), you can send us your manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (or as a similar word-processing file).

If your manuscript contains a lot of images (ex, an illustrated book or cookbook), you'll need to send us a file with your laid-out text and images. Certain file formats are ideal for reflecting text/image layouts, such as InDesign.

We strongly recommend you have a professional edit your manuscript prior to beginning the publishing process for your e-book. 

If you haven't yet had your manuscript edited, we can edit it for you.

You can sell e-book, paperback, and hardcover copies on Amazon.  When Amazon users visit your book's page on the site, they'll be able to choose which format they'd like to receive. If they order an e-book, they can download it directly to their Kindle e-readers. If they order a paperback, Amazon will take care of printing it and shipping it.

Each month, you'll be paid royalties by Amazon.

For paperbacks, you'll also have the option for something known as expanded distribution. If you choose to use this, Amazon will make your paperback available for sale on other websites, and from catalogs used by libraries and bookstores.

Once we create an e-book file for you, you can sell a digital version on sites in addition to Amazon. However, there can be drawbacks to this. As part of the Self-Publishing Launch Package, we'll give you advice on exactly where you should distribute your book. 

You have four main options for getting all the self-publishing services part of the package:

1.) Doing them yourself. This can eat up a lot of your time. Also, unless you have graphic-design and formatting experience, you likely won't be as effective as a professional. Plus, issues with files can cause Amazon to reject your submission.

2.) Hiring freelancers. Though many good freelancers are out there, plenty of them overpromise and under-deliver. Knowing whether or not you're choosing an effective one can be hard. Plus, if you go with freelancers, you'll have to spend time coordinating multiple freelancer tasks, and assuring everyone's items are in sync.  

3.) Working with another company that provides self-publishing services. Though other companies provide similar services as Galdi Media, many force authors into restrictive, lifetime contracts that claim a significant percentage of a book's royalties. In addition, your point of contact at these companies likely won't be its president, or a #1 bestselling author.

4.) Partnering with Galdi Media. Your point of contact will be Ted Galdi, our president, and a #1 bestselling author. He'll give you customized advice to make your book a success. You won't have to do any graphic design, copywriting, formatting, or project management. Ted will make sure experts from his network handle everything for you. Because he believes authors should keep 100% of their earnings, you won't be asked to give over a royalty percentage, or to sign any contracts at all.
