FAQs
An e-book file contains the pages of your book, plus additional sections like "about the author" and "acknowledgments." These files are compatible with e-readers, such as Amazon's Kindle.
If your book contains chapters, a clickable table of contents is added to the front. E-book files tend to be in a format known as ePub.
Galdi Media can create an e-book file for you if you simply provide us your manuscript. If your book is primarily text (ex, a novel), you can send us your manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (or as a similar word-processing file).
If your manuscript contains a lot of images (ex, an illustrated book or cookbook), you'll need to send us a file with your laid-out text and images. Certain file formats are ideal for reflecting text/image layouts, such as InDesign.
We strongly recommend you have a professional edit your manuscript prior to beginning the publishing process for your e-book.
If you haven't yet had your manuscript edited, we can edit it for you.

Once you have a properly created ePub file, you can sell e-books on Amazon, for Kindle.
Theoretically, you can add your ePub file to other retail sites as well, however, to up your odds of becoming a bestseller, we recommend you enroll your book in the Kindle Unlimited program, which means the e-book version would be exclusively sold on Amazon.
Enrolling your book in Kindle Unlimited opens it up to the millions of Amazon users who pay for this service. You'll be paid a royalty each month based on how many total pages of your book these users read. Every order of your book from a Kindle Unlimited user counts just as much toward the bestseller rankings as orders from other readers.
Since almost all self-published authors' copies are ordered on Amazon anyway, the benefits of Kindle Unlimited outweigh its sales exclusivity.
To self-publish for Amazon Kindle, you not only need an e-book file, but a cover, description, categories, and keywords. To expand your book's reach, we also recommend you have a paperback version created, too.
If you just need an e-book file (and have accounted for the other material), then get our E-book File Formatting service with an "Order Now" button on this page.
If you need more than just an e-book file, we suggest you check out our self-publishing launch package.
Theoretically, yes, you can create your own e-book file. However, you may spend a lot of time on the task, yet still not create a file as good as an expert could. Or, you could put in a lot of time, only to have Amazon reject your submission because it didn't meet every technical requirement.
Making a high-quality e-book file involves more steps than simply converting your manuscript's Word document into ePub format. You'll need to add a table of contents that links to each chapter, properly reflect chapter breaks, and more.
To get a great file, without spending any time doing the work, let Galdi Media handle your project.
If you're self-publishing your book, you have four main options for creating an e-book file:
1.) Doing it yourself. This can eat up a lot of your time. Plus, unless you have extensive experience formatting ePub files, you likely won't be as effective as a professional.
2.) Hiring a freelancer. Though many good freelancers are out there, plenty of them overpromise and under-deliver. Knowing whether or not you're choosing an effective one can be hard. Plus, if you go with a freelancer, you'll have to spend time managing the project.
3.) Working with another company that provides self-publishing services. Though other companies provide similar services as Galdi Media, many force authors into restrictive, lifetime contracts that claim a significant percentage of a book's royalties. In addition, your point of contact at these companies likely won't be its president, or a #1 bestselling author.
4.) Partnering with Galdi Media. Your point of contact will be Ted Galdi, our president, and a #1 bestselling author. He'll give you customized advice to make your book a success. You won't have to do any file formatting or project management. Ted will make sure experts from his network handle everything for you. Because he believes authors should keep 100% of their earnings, you won't be asked to give over a royalty percentage, or to sign any contracts at all.
