FAQs
Amazon allows any author to sell books on its site, even if an author is not represented by a traditional publishing company. Authors who list their books for sale themselves are considered to be self-publishing. They can do this through Amazon's KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) portal.
Though self-publishing is theoretically available to any author, Amazon has very particular requirements for adding a book. Unless you have a background in graphic design, copywriting, and file formatting, these requirements may be difficult to meet. Even if you do meet them, your book may become available for sale, yet not grab the attention of buyers.
By partnering with the experts at Galdi Media, you won't have to worry about meeting Amazon's requirements yourself. In addition, you can be confident that our team will not only get your book approved for sale, but create a great cover and more, which can boost sales.

If you want to sell e-books and paperbacks (which we recommend), then yes, you do need every service in the package. Without a cover file, e-book interior file, paperback interior/exterior files, description, and categories, you won't be able to list your book for sale on Amazon.
We do offer each service within the launch package individually. However, when you order the package, Galdi Media will take care of managing the entire project, assuring all of its dependencies are handled efficiently, and completing it in a timely way.
With a package, you just provide your manuscript and book details once, and we'll take it from there. If you were to order each service individually, you'd have to make four separate orders, keep track of your files piecemeal as they're completed, and continually provide us repeat information.
Instead of coordinating four separate services, we suggest you just order a single package, and get your project completed faster, with much less involvement on your end.
You simply need to provide us your manuscript. If your book is primarily text (ex, a novel), you can send us your manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (or as a similar word-processing file).
If your manuscript contains a lot of images (ex, an illustrated book or cookbook), you'll need to send us a file with your laid-out text and images. Certain file formats are ideal for reflecting text/image layouts, such as InDesign.
We strongly recommend you have a professional edit your manuscript prior to beginning the publishing process for your e-book.
If you haven't yet had your manuscript edited, we can edit it for you.
You can sell e-book and paperback copies of your book on Amazon. When Amazon users visit your book's page on the site, they'll be able to choose which format they'd like to receive. If they order an e-book, they can download it directly to their Kindle e-readers. If they order a paperback, Amazon will take care of printing it and shipping it.
Each month, you'll be paid royalties by Amazon.
For paperbacks, you'll also have the option for something known as expanded distribution (which we recommend). If you choose to use this, Amazon will make your paperback available for sale on other websites, and from catalogs used by libraries and bookstores.
Once we create your files for you, theoretically, you can use them to sell your book on retail sites in addition to Amazon.
However, to up your odds of becoming a bestseller, we recommend you enroll your book in the Kindle Unlimited program, which means the e-book version would be exclusively sold on Amazon.
Enrolling your book in Kindle Unlimited opens it up to the millions of Amazon users who pay for this service. You'll be paid a royalty each month based on how many total pages of your book these users read. Every order of your book from a Kindle Unlimited user counts just as much toward the bestseller rankings as orders from other readers.
Since almost all self-published authors' copies are ordered on Amazon anyway, the benefits of Kindle Unlimited outweigh its sales exclusivity.
Theoretically, yes, you can create your own cover and book files, and handle your own description, categories, and keywords. However, unless you have experience with these tasks, you may spend a lot of time on them, only to have your submission rejected. If you provide material to Amazon with even a single error, it won't be accepted.
Even if you are able to get your submission accepted, that won't necessarily be enough to make your book a success.
Millions of books are listed for sale on Amazon. For yours to get found by readers, you need fitting categories and keywords. For it to stand out, you need a great cover and description. To give buyers a good reading experience, and bring in good reviews, you need properly formatted files.
The experts at Galdi Media not only know how to get submissions approved by Amazon, but how to appeal to readers in your genre.
You have four main options for self-publishing your book:
1.) Doing it yourself. This can eat up a lot of your time. Also, unless you have graphic-design, copywriting, and file-formatting experience, you likely won't be as effective as a professional. Plus, Amazon is likely to reject your submission.
2.) Hiring freelancers. Though many good freelancers are out there, plenty of them overpromise and under-deliver. Knowing whether or not you're choosing an effective one can be hard. Plus, if you go with freelancers, you'll have to spend time coordinating multiple freelancer tasks, and assuring everyone's items are in sync.
3.) Working with another company that provides self-publishing services. Though other companies provide similar services as Galdi Media, many force authors into restrictive, lifetime contracts that claim a significant percentage of a book's royalties. In addition, your point of contact at these companies likely won't be its president, or a #1 bestselling author.
4.) Partnering with Galdi Media. Your point of contact will be Ted Galdi, our president, and a #1 bestselling author. You won't have to do any graphic design, copywriting, formatting, or project management. Ted will make sure experts from his network handle everything for you. Because Ted believes authors should keep 100% of their earnings, you won't be asked to give over a royalty percentage, or to sign any contracts at all. Just pay a low, one-time fee and we'll help make your book a success.
Other companies that offer self-publishing support may say that they have a big, international distribution network for your book, as a justification for higher prices. You may conclude that if your book is available in a lot of places, sales will have to go up.
But, in reality, one retail site accounts for almost every sale of a self-published authors' books - Amazon.
Plus, you will have a much easier time hitting a bestseller chart on Amazon if your book is enrolled in its Kindle Unlimited program. To enroll, your e-book version needs to be exclusive to Amazon.
Including your e-book on a large network of retail sites will restrict you from joining Kindle Unlimited and reduce your odds of becoming a bestseller.
We're ready to help you climb the bestseller charts
