FAQs
To sell a lot of books, you need to reach a lot of people interested in your genre. If you happen to have a large email list or social media following, you might be able to sell a lot of books by messaging your audience directly. However, even in this case, ads can make your reach even bigger, increasing your sales potential.
If you do not happen to have a large email list or social following, ads are crucial for getting your book in front of enough people for good sales results.
BookBub is a platform used by millions of readers looking for discounted e-books. Every day, BookBub sends out emails to its members, featuring discounted books (many priced at $2.99 and lower) in genres they like.
Authors can advertise their books inside these emails. Ads consist of an image, which tends to include a book's cover and some brief marketing text. Clicking an ad takes readers to a book's Amazon page (or the page on another retail site of their choice, if available).
If you want to run BookBub ads, we recommend the e-book version of your book be priced between $0.99 and $2.99.
The typical price of your book can be in this range. Or, if your book happens to be typically priced higher, you can temporarily discount it.
If your book is typically priced between $0.99 and $2.99, you can consistently BookBub ads for it.
If your book happens to be typically priced higher, and you temporarily discount it, you should only run BookBub ads ads while the discount is active. For example, you may run a $0.99 Kindle Countdown Deal for a book that's $4.99.
At the end of your deal week, you should stop running BookBub ads.
Though Galdi Media's BookBub Ads service comes with a 30-day management window, you are not required to run ads the entire time.
Theoretically, yes, you can run your own ads. However, unless you have BookBub ads experience, your ads likely won't be as effective as those set up and managed by an expert. Plus, running ads yourself takes a lot of time, while letting a professional handle the task will free up multiple hours in your schedule.
We'll create you a custom image, featuring your book's cover, some marketing text, and its price. The design will be intended to appeal to readers of your book's genre.
When people click your ads, they'll be taken to a third-party site of their choosing, to buy your book. Often, this site is Amazon, however, it can be Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or Google Play.
For us to run your ads, your book just has to be available on Amazon. We can include your listing on other retailer sites, but none is not required.
To get started, you need to create a BookBub Partners account on the BookBub site, which is free and only takes a moment.
You'll then need to provide us a link to your book on Amazon, and other retailer sites you might want to include in the campaigns, and be sure the e-book version is priced at $2.99 or lower.
BookBub charges authors for ads based on a cost per click (CPC) or cost per view (CPM) method. We will determine what's a better fit for your campaigns.
With the CPC method, you'll only be charged when people click your ads. With the CPM method, you'll be charged a smaller amount whenever people view your ads, but nothing additional per click.
The cost BookBub charges per click and view varies. It is generally based on how many other ads are trying to reach the same audience as yours. The more competitive a certain audience is to target, the higher its costs.
Galdi Media charges you a fee to launch your ads and manage them for 30 days. We'll target your ads to BookBub members who are interested in your genre, create your ad image, and set your bidding strategy, which determines how much BookBub will charge you.
Our advertising expert will monitor your ads' performance over a 30-day period, and consistently make adjustments to increase your sales and/or lower your costs.
Galdi Media's fee does not cover your costs to BookBub. Your budget for ads depends on your personal financial situation. The more you spend, the more book sales you're likely to generate. We recommend a budget of at least $5/day.
After the 30-day period, the service will automatically renew for another month, and we'll continue monitoring your ads. The service will keep renewing each month, unless you choose otherwise.
Yes. After the 30-day period, the service will automatically renew for another month, and we'll continue monitoring your ads. The service will keep renewing each month, unless you choose otherwise.
Yes, however, since we need to create a custom image for each ad, you'll have to pay a small fee for every additional book.
You have four main options for running BookBub ads:
1.) Doing it yourself. This can eat up a lot of your time. Plus, unless you're an expert digital advertiser, you likely won't be as effective as a professional.
2.) Hiring a freelancer. Though many good freelancers are out there, plenty of them overpromise and under-deliver. Knowing whether or not you're choosing an effective one can be hard. Plus, if you go with a freelancer, you'll have to spend time managing the project.
3.) Working with another company that provides BookBub advertising. Though other companies provide BookBub advertising, your point of contact at these companies likely won't be its president, or a #1 bestselling author.
4.) Partnering with Galdi Media. Your point of contact will be Ted Galdi, our president, and a #1 bestselling author. He'll give you customized advice to make your book a success. You won't have to do any ad research, setup, or management. Ted will make sure experts from his network handle everything for you. Because he believes authors should keep 100% of their earnings, you won't be asked to give over a royalty percentage, or to sign any contracts at all.
